OVERVIEW
Teenage Gundam pilot of XXXG-00W0 Wing Zero and presumed the "perfect" soldier,. Quiet, reckless, anti-social. A human weapon with little sense of self-worth.

PERSONALITY
Anti-social, suicidal, crazy, inhuman, dedicated to the mission, a weapon, perfect, someone who couldn't be killed even if you tried, someone who can make the impossible possible, kind-hearted, pure, the heart of space. All of these and more have been used to describe the boy who goes by the name of Heero Yuy, and to those who've called him such, they're all true enough. In reality, though, Heero is a boy who has spent so much of his life being molded into the 'perfect soldier' that he's almost forgotten what it is to be normal.

During the time he spent with Odin Lowe, he was taught the basics of survival, which meant that any semblance of wonder and imagination he could have had during his childhood years was scrapped in favor of learning an assassin's trade – how to shoot/build a wide array of firearms and rely solely on himself to survive. After Odin's death, the training he received at the hands of Dr. J under the watchful eye of the Barton Foundation warped him further with the intent of creating the 'perfect soldier' and a human weapon. Things such as guilt, compassion, regret, joy, fear, kindness, and sadness -traits which help make up the staples of humanity- were cast aside, buried deep but not forgotten.

Heero is intelligent, analytical, pragmatic, and observant, which can cause him to come across as 'cold' toward others. He can be relatively quiet at times, choosing to speak up only if there's something he can contribute to the conversation or if his opinion is specifically asked for, and he doesn't always take the feelings of others into consideration when he speaks, choosing blunt and often brutal honesty over sugar-coated words and tactfulness. Because of something he was told by Odin as a child, he believes that the only good way to live one's life is to act on their emotions, but there is a time and place for emotion, and on the battlefield is neither - let them guide you, but keep them separate so as to maintain a clear head. That said, Heero is not very openly emotional, nor does he go out of his way to get close to others, preferring to keep to himself. However, he does have a tendency to act recklessly at times, his dedication to the task at hand trumping all else, often at the expense of his own physical well-being.

Having spent the majority of his life in training, the education he received was centered around the things necessary for his purpose: piloting, computer hacking and programming, weapons construction and usage, mobile suit construction, military and world history, combat strategy, statistics, various forms of combat, and extreme bodily control to the extent that he was able to regain consciousness without alerting trained paramedics who were monitoring his condition as well as set his own broken femur into place using brute force alone. He's been referred to as inhuman by the computer used to analyze the data from his detonated Gundam in that his reaction time, reflexes, and battle prowess far exceed that of top-ranking pilots, and is the one that others tend to entrust the more dangerous missions to, such as stopping the missiles at New Edwards and shooting down Libra's Block A before it could crash into the planet, two tasks that had a very low percentage of success... and yet he was able to complete both of those tasks with time to spare. While everyone around him seems to believe him to be some sort of superhuman thing because of what he's done and his dedication to the mission he's given, it isn't that he's different, it's just that he's received extensive specialized training and conditioning to get those results.

The one thing he is not, though, is stealthy. Unlike Duo or Trowa who excel in that regard, Heero is like a veritable bull in a china shop when he gets going. There are times when he can slip in undetected, but he isn't always good at maintaining that level of stealth. His plans aren't always thought through to completion, usually ending at the 'how to get in' and leaving the getting out to chance and whatever can be done to create a diversion or as much chaos as possible, then getting out while the enemy is distracted.

It's really difficult to talk about his personality without some mention of the catalyst which set him on course for gradually re-awakening the more human side to him: Relena Peacecraft. She is that which starts him evolving from nothing more than a weapon to being human again. At first, he threatens to kill her and rips up the invitation to her birthday party, intending to scare her into backing off, but when she persists, he actively tries to keep his distance – she had him on the run, not the other way around. Because he doesn't believe in her ideals, his mindset is that if he's not around, he can't sully her silly ideas of total pacifism, while she won't have her hopes dashed by seeing that ideal shatter. Her persistence is ultimately what triggers the change in him: when she debuts as Queen Relena, Heero had every intention of killing her to get rid of the false peace Romefeller had created, but in a stroke of pure brilliance, she turned Romefeller's plans on their head... which caused him to back off. The two of them essentially feed off of each other in the sense that the longer they're around each other, the more they begin to draw strength from one another – she draws from him the strength to fight for what she believes in and keep going even when things look bleak, and he draws from her the strength to dare to hope for a future where people don't have to be at war and weapons like him aren't necessary. It's an almost symbiotic relationship, and it works well for them because they're able to be that which the other needs at the time, even without actually being there. Emotionally and figuratively, they're one another's greatest strength, as well as their greatest weakness, and the change she brought about in him doesn't go unnoticed by those around him, with Sally outright stating that he wasn't as cold and unapproachable as he'd been during their previous interactions.

Despite how others see him though, Heero's view of himself is that of something expendable and replaceable, though he later acknowledges that being 'cheap' and outright seeking death don't have to go hand-in-hand. In the very first episode, he attempts to detonate his flight suit and kill himself, but the salt water had shorted it out. After his encounter with Duo that landed him in the hospital, Sally makes the comment that he shows signs of having over 200 bruises and broken bones, though his only visible injuries at the time were two bullet wounds. Only minutes later, he dove head-first out a window from the 50th floor and rolled down the side of the cliff to the beach below, breaking his leg in the process. Not long after that, he attempted to self-detonate, and after waking from a coma the following month, told Trowa that his intention had been to die. He spent his time afterward seeking out the families of the pacifists he'd slain to ask them to take his life to atone for what he'd done to their loved one, only to be called a coward and told that if he truly wanted to make amends, he would keep living. He treats every battle like it's going to be his last and fights with everything he has, taking risks that have a high possibility of death attached... and it isn't until he takes on the mission to shoot down the falling block from Libra that he finally acknowledges that he wants to survive, realizing that even though he may see his life as cheap, it doesn't mean he has to go rushing to his death. He finally realized that he had something to live for: the peace that Earth and Space was headed towards, for which so many lives had been sacrificed.

His final stand against Dekim Barton, the man who had overseen the training that had stolen his childhood and chance at a normal life, best illustrates that change in his view of himself. Not once did he back down, wanting to lay to rest the ghosts of his past so that he could put it all behind him and move forward, and not even Dekim's telling him that Relena was in the bunker with them was able to deter him. Although he outright states that he doesn't have to kill anymore before passing out from his injuries and collapsing in Relena's arms, it doesn't mean that he won't hesitate to fight should he need to.

ABILITIES
Heero’s your average, run-of-the-mill boy-next-door... who has been genetically modified in order to become one of the most deadly human weapons of his time, though he really doesn’t look the part. He’s been trained extensively in various forms of combat and things such as infiltration and espionage, and is quite knowledgeable in the art of 1001+ Ways to Kill Somebody. He’s also not very adept at dying as he’s not only blown himself up once and survived, but he also jumped out of a building from the 50th floor on the edge of a cliff and took a nasty tumble to the water below and suffered only a broken leg... which he not only limped around on but set on his own. A capable mobile suit pilot, he can be a bit reckless at times, and while any sort of age restrictions in the AC timeline are unknown, he’s able to drive both a car/truck and pilot an aircraft without problem. Weapons construction is child’s play (he’s seen at 8 years old assembling, carrying, and firing an RPG without a care in the world), computer hacking is something he can do one-handed, and as seen in Episodes 8 & 19, close-set prison bars aren't even a deterrent as he's capable of bending them bare handed.

Unfortunately, what he's good at doesn't appear to extend to regular “human” tasks, like social interaction. He's still learning.

☄ IC First Impressions

♚ VISUAL: A wiry little sucker at 156cm/5'1" and weighing in (somehow) at 45kg/99lbs, Heero is a teeny tiny ball of muscle with murder eyes and resting bitch face. Of Japanese descent with dark brown hair that always looks like he just crawled out of bed, Prussian blue eyes (yes, they were that specific), and with more scars than you can shake a stick at (that's what happens when you get shot a few times then blow yourself up, he probably looks like a roadmap when naked). Only really noteworthy marks on him are the old bullet wounds at his right bicep and right mid-thigh where Duo shot him.
♚ FASHION: He's a total fashionista, because a green tank top, black military compression shorts (yes, he ran around in his underwear a lot), yellow combat boots, light stonewashed jeans, brown shoes, and a dark denim jacket just scream "taking the fashion world by storm". At least he's stopped shoving things in the back of his pants to carry them?
♚ DEMEANOR: Unsociable/anti-social, quiet, and reckless, Heero carries himself like any other soldier would, straight-backed and rigid. He's described early on in canon by a classmate as "really strong, though he doesn't look it". He's not a personable individual, and doesn't take an interest in someone else's situation without reason. Overall, his attitude is calm and disinterested.
♚ SOUND: This... varies depending on which you watch, so I'm going to provide both and you can choose which you prefer. Personally, I lean toward the Japanese, because it's what I heard first. Regardless of which, he's described as having "an extremely cold voice".

In the Japanese, he's voiced by Hikaru Midorikawa. Overall, his tone is fairly flat, somewhat nasal, and only really shows emotion/varies much in pitch when he's angry, shouting, or laughing like a crazy chipmunk. (Don't get me wrong, I love Midorikawa, I really do.)

In the English, he's voiced by Mark Hildreth. There's more emotion in his voice, and he comes across as a bit more human, but it's still fairly monotone. He also sounds a liiitle less like a crazy chipmunk when he laughs ... but still overall crazy.
♚ SCENT: Oil and metal mixed with whatever soap and shampoo he used that day. The scent of a mechanic's shop is ingrained in him as he's the one who did most of his own repairs and assembly of firearms.

☄ IC Permissions

♚ PHYSICAL VIOLENCE: Beat the hell out of him! Cut him, bruise him, break bones, throw him down the stairs, impale him with a pitchfork, bash him over the head with a lamp, step on his toes, etc. Please don't attempt anything that would severely disfigure him without asking first though, and I do draw the line at killing. Please note, though, that Heero is a damn good shot with a gun, was trained in the art of 1001 Ways to Kill Someone, and is physically capable of bending steel bars with his bare hands. He's not a pushover on the battlefield, but he is human, and as such, has the same weaknesses as any human would.
♚ MENTAL INFORMATION: He doesn't have any sort of shielding or safeguards against mental intrusion. He does keep his emotions fairly well locked away, to the point that he doesn't always understand his reactions and reasons for doing one thing over another, so trying to discern his emotional state could take a little work. Other than that, he's dealt with the ZERO system enough times that he's used to having things mess with his head.
♚ PHYSICAL AFFECTION: OOCly, I say if you want to, go for it! ICly, he's about as affectionate as a brick wall -he doesn't do hugs, he barely smiles, his first handshake was at age 15, and his default expression is 'resting bitch face'. He won't respond with violence, but he also won't respond in kind either -more like a non-reaction. He tolerates and that's about it. He'll learn... eventually.
♚ IC TRIGGERS: Nota lotta. He's pretty good at not letting others get to him, but he beats himself up over a very specific incident that he won't bring up in casual conversation, and even then it's not so much a trigger as it is feelings of guilt.
♚ RELATIONSHIPS: I have no issues shipping him with someone or having him end up attached. However, he's not terribly affectionate and kind of detached when it comes to his emotions so any romantic relationship might take a little bit of push.

☄ OOC Permissions

♚ BACKTAGGING: Because of the above, I will happily backtag into the sunset if you let me, and it's always sunset somewhere! If you'd like to drop things or hash things out to move on, please let me know and I'll be happy to work with you!
♚ FOURTHWALLING: If you're going to, please keep it vague.
♚ OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS & TRIGGERS: To be brutally honest, I don't have many at all. I'm hard to offend.
♚ SMUT PREFERENCES: M/F, M/M, M/???. 16+, and there's very little I won't consider. The hard no's are: vore, gore, snuff, necro, and anything bathroom-related, as well as bloodplay and breathplay due to personal issues.
